Welcome
to the web site for the University of Tennessee Cloning Project.
This site is intended as a gateway into our advanced research
to understand early embryonic development, animal fertility, and
the genetic links associated with animal diseases. You will find
general information about our cloning successes, the cell donors
(the animals that have been genetically replicated), and our intended
research emphases.
We
are not cloning animals for the mere purpose of cloning. We are
using cloning technology as a tool to address real world problems
facing animal agriculture. Our present efforts are focusing on
identifying components within the egg that are affected by environmental
heat stress and determining the genetic links associated with
mastitis.
Information
about our latest cloning successes can be found by following the
latest news links
Information
about Millie, the UT Cloning Projects first success and
the first Jersey calf cloned in the United States from a somatic
cell of an adult animal or Emma can be found by following the
correspondingly named links.
