Swine Program Goals

EXTENSION PROGRAM GOALS

Develop an aggressive and pro-active swine extension program to improve the profitability and production efficiency of Tennessee's swine producers. Programs will provide swine production expertise, timely information, and applicable educational materials. Enhance the modern swine production knowledge base and comfort level of county / agricultural agents and producers to keep Tennessee swine operations profitable and enhance their competitiveness nationally. Work cooperatively with swine producers, county agricultural agents, specialists, veterinarians, researchers, and other persons to improve pork production at local, state, regional, national, and international levels. Actively participate with industries, governmental agencies, and commodity groups to become an important voice of Tennessee swine producers to these groups. Continually improve my knowledge of swine production, nutrition, genetics, reproduction, finances, and nutrient management to benefit the swine producers in Tennessee. Seek to expand my network of associates in and outside of Tennessee to keep abreast of industry developments.
