American
Society of Animal Science Foundation Internship (ASAS)
& Federation
of Animal Science Societies Congressional Science Fellowship
(FASS)
ASAS and FASS are pleased to announce the
opportunity to serve as the Second ASAS-FASS Student Intern
in the DC-based Office of Scientific Liaison of FASS. The
program is meant to improve understanding and appreciation
of communicating science as well as to sharpen the ability
of the participants to communicate complex technical issues
to non-specialists.
Some opportunities may include:
- Learn about the federal legislative and regulatory process
- Work with the FASS Committees:
Animal Care, Biotechnology, Environment, and Food Safety
- Attend Congressional and agency hearings - Track federal
legislation and regulations - Research legislative and regulatory
issues - Attend Washington meetings on animal science issues
Applicants must be current members of ASAS.
Priority will be given to graduate and undergraduate students
in the animal sciences, including dairy,
poultry and meat science. Applicants should possess outstanding
written and oral communication skills, an interest in the
legislative process, and a strong interest in learning about
national issues of importance to animal agriculture.

John
Deere Internship Positions
The Intern Program at John Deere provides
college students practical hands-on work experience as a compliment
to academic work. Students in the Intern Program typically
work summer sessions. Student assignments are made based on
the availability of openings, students' interests and academic
course-work. Students must meet a minimum grade-point average
in order to be considered for the program.

Noble
Foundation
The Agricultural Division of the Samuel Roberts
Noble Foundation, Inc. is accepting applications for the position
of Summer Livestock Discipline Intern (temporary position).
Qualifications: Junior,
Senior or Graduate student in Animal Science or related field.
Duration: Approximately
May- August 2003.
Salary: $7.50 per hour (minimum).
Duties: Intern will assist
with livestock and related programs at the Noble Foundation.
Duties will include collection and management of research
and demonstration project data, managing computerized records,
assisting with educational activities, participating in consultation
with livestock producers, and other livestock, forage and
wildlife management activities. The opportunity exists for
individualized intern projects.
Other Requirements: Must
be willing to reside in the Ardmore, Oklahoma area during
employment and must have a valid driver's license. Must be
willing to travel and spend some nights away from Ardmore.
The Noble Foundation will pay for all travel expenses.
University Credit: May be
able to receive course credit. Applicant should check with
faculty advisor for details. Requirements will vary by institution.

Pine
Hill Day Camp & Equestrian Center
Since
1977 Pine Hill Day Camp has been offering quality horseback
programs. We are currently seeking qualified horseback staff
for our summer programs. The camp is located in North Alabama
with Huntsville, Madison and Decatur only 25-35 minutes away.

CME
Pork Industry Scholarship Program
Administered by the National Pork Producers
Council.
Introduced in 1990 to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of Live
Hog Futures, the CME Pork Industry Scholarship Program continues
to recognize outstanding youth in the pork community. Four
$2,500 scholarships will be awarded to students who intend
to pursue a career in the pork industry-talented and thoughtful
students who may emerge as industry leaders someday.

Claude Robinson Scholarship
Eligibility: This scholarship
was developed to honor the memory of Robinson, an accomplished
Yorkshire and Angus breeder from Wellsville, Mo. Robinson
was highly respected in the livestock industry for his passion
to improve the Yorkshire and Angus breeds. He was a strong
advocate of youth and livestock judging programs.
This $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to
one incoming college sophomore, junior or senior enrolled
in a junior or senior college judging program. The scholarship
will be awarded on the basis of demonstrated leadership activities,
livestock judging experience, livestock judging interest and
community service.
Applicants are required to submit one letter
of recommendation from a 4-H, FFA, or person unrelated to
the applicant who has knowledge of the applicant's livestock
industry involvement. In addition, they need one letter of
recommendation from their college livestock judging coach.
Youth may only win one scholarship and can

Throlson American Bison Foundation
Scholarship Application
The foundatioin will award two scholarships,
one for $1000 and one for $2000. Each scholarship recipient
will receive an engraved wall plaque and a one-year membership
to the National Bison Association.
Qualifications: By
the completioin of the spring semester/quarter, applicants
must: 1. Be an undergraduate with junior or senior standing
(completed a minimum of 72 semester hours or 108 quarter hours);
or a graduate student in a recognized livestock, animal science,
veterinary, or agriculture program in the United States or
Canada; 2. Have at least one semester or two quarters remaining
in their degree program; 3. Be scheduled to be enrolled as
a full-time student for the following fall semester or quarter.
Previous recipients of the Throlson Scholarship are ineligible.
Application Deadline: The
application must be received no later than August
1, 2001. Complete the Scholarship Application
Form (only typed applications will be accepted),
have your Department Head/Chairperson complete their designated
section, enclose two letters of recommendation from faculty
in your department, and mail to: Throlson American Bison Foundation,
4701 Marion St., Suite 100, Denver, Colorado 80216
You will receive a letter acknowledging receipt
of your application. If you do not receive acknowledgment
within two weeks, please call 303-292-2833, to confirm receipt
of your application.
Selection Process:
Each Application will be screened by the Throlson American
Bison Foundation Scholarship Committee, which will make the
final decision regarding the selection of recipient. The scholarship
award recipient will be announced in august, and the scholarship
will be awarded at the beginning of the fall semester/quarter.

2004
Beef Industry Scholarship Opportunity
Eligibility: Any graduating
high school student or full-time undergraduate college student
enrolled in a 4-year institution for the entire 2003 - 2004
school year, as well as demonstrating a commitment to a career
in any area of the beef industry, either through classes,
internships or live experiences.
Deadline: November 28, 2003
