Dr. Doyle Meadows received the 2003 Youth Professional
Leadership Award presented by the National Horse Judging Teams
Coaches Association last week at the Quarter Horse Congress
in Columbus, Ohio. In 1979, Doyle chaired a steering committee
to organize and implement a national association for both collegiate
and youth horse judging team coaches. In 1980, he was elected
the first president of the newly formed National Horse Judging
Team Coaches Association. Today, the organization has more than
500 members who purpose is to promote youth development and
life skills in decision making, priority assessment and communication
through orally defending decisions. |

In August 2003, Doyle was elected President of the Southern
Regional Horse Specialists. Primary duties include the development
of education material and the continuation of HorseQuest™,
an on-line program developed for horse owners and producers
to ask questions with answers supplied by the horse specialists.
Also, he will be involved with the Southern Regional 4-H Horse
Championships, an educational activity for the top youth in
the 13 Southern States to showcase their skills in horsemanship,
horse judging and communication skills. |

Doyle has been selected to judge the 2004 American Quarter
Horse Youth Association World Championship Horse Show held next
August in Ft. Worth, Texas. He has been a professional horse
judge for more than 20 years and has judged most major shows
in the United States, Canada and Mexico. Doyle has also judged
shows and conducted clinics in several counties in Europe and
South America. |
