EXTENSION INTERESTS

As the first Extension Horse Specialist in the U. S., Dr. Frederick Harper originated the extension educational horse programs in New Jersey and Tennessee. He is nationally recognized for initiating numerous educational programs which have immensely benefited millions in the horse industry. As an international speaker, he has addressed thousands of horse owners/breeders on numerous horse topics and spoken at several professional/scientific meetings. He is the most popular technically read horse educator in the world with over 1,600 articles and publications. His writings have appeared in over 285 scientific journals and equine/farm publications reach up to 11 million horse owners/breeders annually. Another 11 million horse owners/breeders/enthusiasts are reached yearly by the Internet. He is the author of the popular Top Form Book of Horse Care with approximately 450,000 copies in print. He was the research editor for the recently published Feeding to Win II. Four of the fact sheets in the new Horse Industry Handbook were written by him. For a number of years, he was a horse breeder and an approved judge. Currently, he is the Extension Horse Specialist at the University of Tennessee.
