Completed eight years of service on the AVMA
Veterinary Technician Advisory Committee (CVTEA). Gill, as Chairman
of the CVTEA Essentials Review Committee, substantially revised
and rewrote the CVTEA manual of practices and procedures. Gill
served as Accreditation Chair of eight programs including Minnesota
Medical Institute Veterinary Technology Program. This program,
which is the largest of its kind in the United States, progressed
from probational status with severe problems, to a program which
attained one of the best site visit reports of any private school
in recent history. |

The Chairman is responsible for program planning,
professional development activities, interaction with other
committees of A.S.A.S. and sponsorship. To assure quality, programming
themes were selected and each state was contacted well in advance
of the deadline for papers. Participation was strongly encouraged.
Invited speakers were contacted and an excellent program was
lined up. Sponsorship was lined up for three years. |

Accomplishments included: Initiation of TAAA&S/Hicks
Award; Establishment of TAAA&S Foundation; increased college
scholarship; and, planned annual professional improvement meeting
with a goal of achieving the best possible professional improvement
program (sponsorship in excess of $7000 ensured that the annual
conference expenses to membership were minimized). Result: Agents
Association is shown to be a resource for professional development
of both agents and specialists. |
