HAMBLEN COUNTY DAIRY QUIZ BOWL TEAM RETURNS
FROM LOUISVILLE
Hamblen County represented Tennessee in the 4-H Invitational Dairy
Quiz bowl at the North American International Livestock Expo in
Louisville, Kentucky on November 6, 2004. Team members Preston Morris,
Kristen Ramsey, Mindy Scott and Justin Quinn made it through the
fifth round before being eliminated. This placed the team in approximately
7th place overall.
The Hamblen County team was one of 20 teams participating. They
were accompanied by their coach Donna Morris and her husband David.
The dairy quiz bowl gives young people an opportunity to test their
knowledge of dairy cattle, dairy products and the dairy industry.
The event is one of the nation’s most challenging contests
for dairy youth and attracts young people from throughout the United
States.
Sponsor for the trip on the state level was the 4-H Dairy Endowment
in the Tennessee 4-H Foundation. Local donors included Bill and
Mary Lynn Bales, Jefferson Federal Charitable Foundation, Sam Grigsby,
Jr. and Whitesburg Ruritan Club.
