TWENTY-FIVE JOHNSON COUNTY FARMERS COMPLETE CERTIFICATION AS MASTER BEEF PRODUCERS
The University of Tennessee Extension has just completed an 11 week course for area beef cattle producers. Each class focused on a different aspect of beef cattle production. The Master Beef Producer program included instruction on managing, marketing, genetics, reproduction, feeding, forage production, herd health, cattle handling and behavior, environmental concerns, and food safety. The sessions were led by UT Specialists and Extension Agents. There were 25 local beef cattle producers who completed the program. Each participant received a reference manual, graduation certificate, cap, and a Master Beef Producer sign to display on their farm. In addition, each participant was also certified in Beef Quality Assurance to help insure a safer product for the consumer.
