4-H Sheep Project: State Sheep Oratorical Contest

Location: Tennessee Junior Livestock Exposition
Date: Tuesday, July 12, 2011
Time: 4:00 - 6:00 pm
Entry Deadline: June 15

ELIGIBILITY:

1)  4-H and FFA members in the 7th through 12th grade will be eligible to participate.

2)  Grade is defined as grade enrolled on January 1st of the current year.*

GENERAL RULES:

1)  Subject must pertain to sheep, the sheep 4-H project or the sheep FFA Enterprise.

2)  No visual aids.

3) Speakers may use notes.  However, excessive use of notes will count against the final score.

4)  Suggested time limit for speakers is 4 – 6 minutes for 7th and 8th grade contestants and 5 - 7 minutes for 9th to 12th grade contestants.  Speakers not within the range may lose points.  This will be at discretion of the judges.

5)  Dress appropriately for the event.  Clothes appropriate for showmanship are recommended.

6)  Participants will be divided into 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th  grade divisions.  The top 5 scoring speakers in each grade will receive medallions.

7)  Speakers must pre-register by June 15th.
