UT Equestrian Team starts off season with impressive results!
The University of Tennessee Equestrian Team has started off the 2013-2014 competition season with impressive results! The Western team opened their season on October 25th and 26th at Maryville College, earning Reserve High Point Team honors on both days of competition!
Evie Rush (Junior, Sports Management) and Ally Woodall (Sophomore, Animal Science) have qualified to represent the Western team at Regional Finals in February. The Western riders are coached by Carol Hodge of Hidden Hollow Farm in Friendsville, TN.
Pictured are the Western team members and coach with all of their awards from the first competition of the season. The Hunt Seat team has also been very successful in their first two competitions of the year at The University of the South on September 28th and 29th and Maryville College on October 26th and 27th. Three Hunt Seat riders – Laura Galloway (Junior, Food & Agricultural Business), Leila Owen (Senior, Chemical Engineering), and Catherine Meehan (Senior, Logistics) – have also qualified for Regional Finals. The Hunt Seat team is coached by Brandon and Jocelyn Gibson of Select Sport Horses in Greenback, TN. The UT Equestrian Team competes in Zone 5, Region 1 of the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association. This region includes Maryville College, The University of the South, Tennessee Technological University, Middle Tennessee State University, Vanderbilt University, Belmont University, Austin Peay State University, The University of Central Arkansas, Western Kentucky University, and Murray State University.
