Please print your team entries directly from the on-line entry system to include with your entry fees. Entries due by February 25, 2011.

4H/FFA Livestock Judging Contest

The livestock judging contest includes three divisions:

      • Junior Division: Students in grades 4-6
      • Junior High Division: Students in grades 7-8
      • Senior Division: Students in grades 9-12

All livestock judging participants in the senior division will give two sets of oral reasons. Additionally, there will be two questions classes for all participants.

Judging Team Eligibility

In the livestock judging contest, three contestants constitute a team. Teams of four may be entered, and in this case, the lowest score will be dropped. In addition, individuals may be entered. All contestants registered in the judging contests will compete for individual awards.

Quiz Bowl

The quiz bowl includes two divisions:

      • Junior Division: Students in grades 4-6
      • Junior High Division: Students in grades 7-8

A quiz bowl team is made up of 2-4 students. The questions are presented to test students’ knowledge of livestock production, judging, products, and other areas of the livestock industry. Due to time restraints, senior contestants will not be able to participate in the quiz bowl.

Awards for 4H/FFA contest

All participants, coaches, advisors, agents and guests are invited to stay for the Awards Ceremony and we strongly encourage you to do so! We know that it is a long day and everyone is in a hurry to get home but we are honored to have the opportunity to recognize and congratulate all of our participants.

Collegiate Livestock Judging Contest

New this year will be a collegiate livestock judging contest. This contest will consist of 9-10 placing classes. An effort will be made to have 3-4 classes of beef, 3 classes of sheep and 3 classes of swine. Oral reasons will be given on 4 of these classes. These will consist of female and male breeding and market animals. Performance data will be provided for several of the classes. This contest will go on during the clinic and contest, so collegiate students will judge the clinic classes as part of their contest. Lunch will be provided and then the other classes will be judged and reasons given at the same time as 4H/FFA students.

Any collegiate student currently enrolled at any college or university that has never competed on the collegiate level is eligible. Teams will consist of 5 individuals, with all scores counting for a team score. Schools may enter any number of teams of 5 and any number of additional students are eligible to judge as individuals. An entry fee of $5 per student will be charged to cover the cost of the lunch.

Registration

To register, use the on-line entry form entries due by February 25, 2011. Below is the link to the online form.
